Nolan Ryan Reminding Texans to Back Prop 1

October 16, 2014

One of the organizations working to inform Texans about the value of passing the highway funding constitutional amendment – Proposition 1 – is featuring advice from the living legend of Texas baseball -- Nolan Ryan.

Texas Infrastructure Now has placed billboards along busy freeways featuring Ryan asking motorists to “Give Texas A Win” by voting Yes on Prop 1 on the Nov. 4th ballot.

Known affectionately as The Ryan Express, he is still baseball's strikeout king with a record seven no-hitters over 27 years in the majors. In radio spots Ryan says that as a pitcher his job was to give his team a chance to win.  He asks voters to give Texas a chance to win with better, safer roads by backing Prop 1.

“Proposition 1 creates jobs and builds better, safer roads and bridges without new taxes,” Ryan says.

Another billboard in the series features musician Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel while others remind voters of the reality that traffic congestion often results in missed appointments and the inability to arrive on time to drop off and pick up children.

The billboards are advertisements paid for by the Texas Infrastructure Now PAC.
